Upcoming School Election on May 5th
Roscommon Area Public Schools has an Operating Millage renewal on the May 5 ballot. This funding plays a critical role in supporting classroom instruction, student programs, and the day-to-day operations that help our schools run smoothly.
✔️ Supports educational opportunities for students
✔️ Helps maintain programs and district services
✔️ Applies only to non-homestead properties (such as commercial, rental, vacant land, and second homes)
✔️ Does not increase taxes on primary residences
While this tax applies to non-homestead properties, all registered voters—including primary homeowners—participate in the election.

Dear Families of 2nd, 3rd, and 4th Grade Students,
Tomorrow, April 9th, our 2nd–4th grade students will be traveling to the high school to attend the dress rehearsal of the RMS’s production of The Little Mermaid, Jr. Students will be at RHS from approximately 11:45–1:45 PM including travel time.
If your child will need to be picked up early, please contact your student's teacher or call the school office in the morning so we can make arrangements for them to remain at the elementary building.
Thank you!
Dear RAPS School Community,
As we begin planning for the 2026–2027 school year, we would like to share some important calendar information that has been finalized. In Michigan, local school districts align certain dates with the common calendar established by our Intermediate School District (COOR ISD). This ensures consistency for families and staff across the region. At this time, the following dates are confirmed and will not change:
Winter Break: December 23, 2026 through January 1, 2027
Spring Break: March 29 through April 5, 2027
We are sharing these dates now to assist families with advance planning. Additional details for the full school calendar—including the first and last day of school, professional development days, and other key dates—will be released once finalized.
Thank you for your continued support and partnership. We look forward to another successful school year ahead.

Roscommon Area Public Schools will hold its rescheduled monthly meeting on Monday, March 23rd at 6:00 p.m. at Roscommon Middle School. Agenda: https://aptg.co/lsbGNk

*We found out at the end of the day that the Breslin Center is cashless. They only accept credit card; no cash and no Apple Pay. Because of this, the spec bus will stop on the way down and on the way back so kids can grab food. Sorry for the late notice. #gobucks

Due to a limited number of drivers, we will run one spec bus for RHS students and capping it at 50 students (so we have enough room where kids can ride relatively comfortably). Students will need $10 for tickets and money for concessions while at the game. Permission slips will need to be picked up, signed, and turned in. No permission slip = no game.
Be aware that the Lake City High School parking lot is being used as a staging center for power trucks and repair crews. Please be mindful of this when parking and car pool if able.

THE MACKINAC BRIDGE HAS BEEN CLOSED WITH NO FORSEEABLE TIME FOR REOPENING. Because of this, the Spectator Bus for the GBB Regional game will NOT run tonight. We apologize for any inconvenience.
This afternoon our school buildings were placed in secure mode for a couple of hours after the district was notified by local law enforcement of a threat directed toward a business in Houghton Lake. As a precaution, we limited access to our buildings while law enforcement investigated.
Police have since given the all clear, and our schools have resumed normal operations.
We appreciate the quick communication from law enforcement and the cooperation of our staff and students while these precautionary measures were in place. The safety of our students and staff remains our top priority.
Thank you for your continued support.
