For over 145 years, Roscommon Area Public Schools has provided the community of Roscommon and surrounding areas with educational excellence. RAPS is a Class C school district serving pupils in a 350 square mile area of the central Northern portion of the lower peninsula in Roscommon County, Michigan. Located conveniently near the intersection of US-27 and I-75, the residents of the Roscommon Area Public School District enjoy quick access to metropolitan areas along with beautiful rural living, close to Higgins Lake, Lake St. Helen and the South Branch of the famous Au Sable River.

Since the construction of the Roscommon Middle School in 1994, and renovations to all district buildings beginning in 2008, the district houses outstanding facilities for art, music, theater, athletics, the industrial arts, media centers, and technology.  

Through the Roscommon Area Public Schools 1:1 Student Technology Initiative, each student K-3 are provided an iPad, and every student 4-12 has access to a Chromebook. Technology is an integral aspect of student success at RAPS.

RAPS currently operates one elementary school, one middle school and on high school serving approximately 1,000 students. Additionally, the district has developed an early childhood program with a focus on preschool education. Roscommon High School is NCA Accredited. Roscommon Area Public Schools has received multiple awards and recognition and continues to support students with an exceptional staff.
