Free and Reduced Lunch

Last week, we sent information about a supplemental food program that would be available to all students who qualify for free lunch and all students in RES and RMS. If you have a student at RHS and the circumstances of the last several weeks have changed your family's financial status, your student may now qualify for free lunch and thus, you would qualify for the additional food assistance. If you would like to apply for free-lunch status for a high school student, please call 275-6685 to begin the process.

We recognize that connecting to the internet is an issue for many families. There are several places in the area that have WiFi available outside their buildings and allow unrestricted public access.

  • Hart Ford - 117 Lake Street, Roscommon
  • North Central Area Credit Union - 129 Lake Street, Roscommon
  • RMS parking lot
  • Gerrish Township Hall - 2997 E. Higgins Lake, Roscommon

Parent Announcement regarding at home learning beginning Thursday April 16, 2020

As you know, learning for the remainder of this school year is now going to be done at home.  This learning may occur through paper packets or online or a hybrid of both. It is our expectation that students will begin working on Thursday, April 16th.   Teachers will be working with students through both online platforms and paper lessons. For students to earn credit for this year, students will need to engage with the material regularly.  Teachers will be available to assist students, answer questions, teach concepts and generally support students during this period. Each teacher and administrator will have a scheduled time when he/she will be accessible to parents and students.  Teachers and administrators will also be accessible to answer emails and make calls during evenings and times when it is convenient for parents.

On Monday and Tuesday, we will be handing out packets.  The packet can be picked up at the school that the student attends.  The schedule for picking up the packets will be done according to the students’ last name.

  • Students with last names beginning with  A-F will be on Monday from 4:00-4:45 p.m and Tuesday from 10:00-10:45 a.m.
  • Last names beginning with G-R will be on Monday from 4:45 - 5:30 p.m. and Tuesday from 10:45-11:30 a.m.
  • Last names beginning with S-Z will be on Monday from 5:30-6:15 p.m. and Tuesday from 11:30-12:15 p.m.

We will have the contents of students lockers available for pick up at these times.

We ask that only parents come to retrieve the packets.

At RHS packets will need to be picked up in the building.  Please send only one person into the high school to retrieve the packets.

At RES and RMS, packets will be delivered to cars.  Please remain in your vehicle and we will deliver the packet to you.

Please use all social distancing strategies to limit both your exposure and that of the individuals distributing the materials.

If you are unable to retrieve the packets at these times, we will contact you to arrange for another method of delivering the resources.

More information will be coming regarding what the learning will look like at home and how and when you will be able to engage with teachers.  If at any point, you have questions, please call the Board of Education office and leave a message. We will direct your question to the appropriate person.  The number is 275-6600.

Have a good weekend and stay safe.
