HEALTHIEST SCHOOLS IN AMERICA 2011!

Last spring, the USDA announced schools who met the challenge to improve the nutrition standards in foods served to students. In the Healthier US School Challenge (HUSSC), Roscommon Middle School was the ONLY school in Michigan to be awarded for the honor of "Gold Award of Distinction". Award winners were honored in a White House reception given by Michelle Obama and the "Let's Move" campaign, whose goal is to end childhood obesity within a single generation. Char Goddard, Chartwell's Food Service Director for RAPS, and former RMS Principle Ron Alden went to the White House to recieve the award. We are extremely proud of the work done by Char and Ron and everyone who supported their efforts to improve the health of our students.

To The Bridge and Across-100 Miles in 100 Days Challenge

The 3rd Annual "To the Bridge and Across - 100 Miles in a 100 Days" challenge will begin on Monday, January 30th with registration held at the RHS Cafeteria. The cost will be $5 which goes towards a T-shirt for all finishers. The idea behind this activity is to log 100 miles in 100 days which equals the distance from Roscommon to the Mackinaw Bridge. RHS will open its doors each night from 5:30 to 8:00 so that the public can use our facility to get in out of the cold and walk the halls. Even if you do not want a t-shirt, feel free to come in and walk. If you have any questions e-mail Gabe at williamsg@rapsk12.net . I will have more printed info on Monday. Thanks and see you there!
