Middle School Highlights
Acting Up Theater Company
Acting Up comes to Roscommon Middle School! Acting Up Theatre Company has been providing schools, with its unique brand of educational theatre since 1996. With theatre and a child's imagination, the company found that anything truly is possible. Through this unique theater experience, students get to act out scenes related to their curriculum in Michigan History, American History, Character Counts, Economics, Core Democratic Values, Local History, Explorers and Regional Social Studies!
RMS fifth graders went on the Alpena Shipwreck Tours. They had an 1 1/2 hour cruise on the glass bottom boat and saw four shipwrecks. Then ate lunch, and looked at the exhibits and shopped in the gift shop. Students enjoyed the day.
Girls on the Run
Running is used to inspire and motivate girls, encourage lifelong health and fitness, and build confidence through accomplishment. Important social, psychological, and physical skills and abilities are developed and reinforced throughout the program. At each season's conclusion, the girls and their running buddies complete a 5k running event which gives them a tangible sense of achievement as well as a framework for setting and achieving life goals. We completed the 5K in Traverse City on the Saturday of memorial day weekend. Pictures is the 3rd - 5th grade group. The girls even got to participate in a service learning project -personal care items for River House Shelter. At Roscommon, we offer this program for girls in grades 3-8.
